Some Native Americans sent their men out alone into the wild for weeks to test their survival skills, the history of masculinity goes all the way back to our ape ancestors, so why do we live in a world that seems to avoid development of men's masculinity? The "Nice Guy" syndrome seems to be a national epidemic in "civilized" cultures - or is that just the way it seems, have there always been "Nice Guys"?
